The SImple Care Routine for Your Most Hydrated Lips Ever
Posted on 21 March 2025

One of the most frustrating thing about lip care is the endless battle against dryness. Even if you apply product on your lips, chances are they'll be dry again within no time. One of the reasons for this recurring issue is that you're not hydrating your lips effectively.
Part of the reason why our lips tend to dry out quicker than the rest of our face is because the skin structure is different. Unlike the rest of our skin, our lips contain no oil glands. While oil glands can seem like a hassle if you have oily skin. Those glands help keep the skin hydrated. In fact, the reason why our skin produces so much oil in the summer months is because of the higher temperatures. Increased oil production is the skin's way of trying to hydrate the skin against the summer's heat.
Our lips are defenseless against the external environment which means that we have to do a little more to experience hydrated lips. For some that means reapplying a synthetic lip balm every few hours. The key to longer-lasting lip nourishment is in the products used and a routine that maximizes the effectiveness of those products.
Hemisqualane- The Best Lip Oil
Perhaps the key to keeping the lips moisturized longer is to use lip oil. If you haven't noticed, lip oils are trending at the moment. A ton of brands are jumping on this trend but their products might be falling short because many of them simply add a minuscule amount of oil to the bottom of the ingredient list. In the end, their lip oils perform more like a lip gloss than a true oil. Chances are that you already have a lip gloss that you know and love. If you were to pair that lip gloss with a nourishing lip oil, your lip care routine would be unstoppable.
If you want to experience lip hydration unlike your current routine, you simply need to add a couple of steps, which I will refer to as the M.O.G method.
What is the M.O.G. lip hydration method?
M- Moisturizer
O- Oil
G- Gloss (or balm)
A multistep lip care routine is the answer to ultra-dry lips. The routine begins with moisture. In the same way you moisturize your skin every day, we should absolutely hydrate our lips. You don't have to purchase a new product to moisturize your lips. You simply need to dab a little of your favorite water based skin moisturizer or serum on your rips. We wouldn't walk out the door without moisturizing our face but we leave our lips bare to battle the elements.
Next comes the step that can make all the difference. This is when you apply the precious oil that our lips can't produce. The perfect oil for this step is hemisqualane and I'll tell you why. What makes hemisqualane different from other oils is its tiny particle size. This unique attribute allows this ultra-light oil to easily penetrate the skin while helping to add a new layer of nourishment to your lips. Hemisqualane is also scentless, unlike other plant oils that might not be as pleasant when applied on the lips.
Finally you complete your new elevated lip care routine by applying your favorite lip gloss or lipstick. If you're like you, you were applying lip balm without first prepping the lip. Our lips weren't moisturized prior to putting on lip balm which is why our lips still seemed dry even after applying balm. A layered lip care routine will solve all of your dry lip nightmares.
Try adding the moisturize and (hemisqualane) oil step in your lip routine and experience the difference,
